Jan Oblak is the best goalkeeper in the world and it is only natural that he is generating transfer interest, suggests Enrique Cerezo.

Chelsea are understood to be actively on the hunt for a new goalkeeper as they look to replace out-of-sorts Kepa Arrizabalaga.

In Frank Lampard’s wishlist, reportedly, are Burnley’s Nick Pope, Ajax’s Andre Onana, and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, with the latter having more precedence.

Oblak has continually produced world-class performances in his six years at Atletico. With a €120 million release on his current contract, he will most certainly not be available for Chelsea on cheap, if at all.

Amid all the speculations about his future, president Enrique Cerezo recently provided assurances. While labeling him as the world’s best goalkeeper, Cerezo insisted that the 27-year old will continue at Wanda Metropolitano.

“I always say that Oblak has a contract with Atletico and is the best goalkeeper in the world,” he told Marca. “It is not strange that he has offers from other great teams.

“I say the same as always. Oblak has a contract, he is an Atletico player, period. We have many players, our squad is the club’s main asset.”

“Oblak is a magnificent player and in his position, unquestionably, there is no one to beat him right now.”
