Atletico receives a boost before UCL match

Atletico Madrid defeated Leganes 1-0 at Wanda Metropolitano tonight, as they are now focusing on the Champions League match against Juventus.

A good performance by Atletico Madrid gave the team a 1-0 victory over Leganes in tonight’s Spanish La Liga fixture.

The game was played at Wanda Metropolitano, and as soon as it ended the team shifts its focus to the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

“It is not easy to always win and we are competing well with fantastic players who play in various positions during a match,” coach Diego Simeone said after the match to Marca.

“It is our strength, that is where we feel strong.”

“The introduction of Saul, Lemar and Correa up top gave us vital speed,” he added.

“The win temporarily reduced the deficit at the top of the table to four points before leaders Barcelona played Rayo Vallecano.”

“Barcelona have been, since December, having a typical Barcelona season – always winning,” he stated,” the coach commented.

The win keeps Los Merengues in second place of the table with 56 points, seven behind leaders Barcelona.

Atletico has won 16 matches out of 27 played, with six draws and three defeats.
