Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has confirmed that he extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund, and he is set to stay until 2021
According to GOAL, the Gabon international striker has admitted that he committed to a new deal some time ago, with his future now tied to the Bundesliga club until 2021. It has already been reported by the media that the 28-year-old striker had committed to fresh terms at BVB.
Aubameyang has now confirmed as well, and he also claimed it has been some time ago that he signed his new deal: “Let me listen to music!! Better than the newspapers. It’s a bit of time since I extended my contract. But it’s not your mistake, you didn’t know as much,” he said in a social media post.
The Gabon international attacker’s previous contract with Dortmund was valid until 2020, but now he has agreed to a 12-month extension.
It remains to be seen whether confirmation of fresh terms in Germany will curb the transfer talk which continues to follow the Gabon international around, GOAL continues. Aubameyang has already been linked with Real Madrid, and even with Everton, as the two clubs were viewed as possible landing spots in January.
Sam Allardyce’s team has also admitted that they would be interested in securing the signature of the Dortmund attacker.
The club’s sporting director, Michael Zorc addressed some topics relating to Aubameyang: “Clearly we’re planning with Auba. He has a very long-term contract in Dortmund,” the director told Sky Deutschland.
“He’ll leave Dortmund at some stage, but for us he’s an extremely important player and we’re planning on moving forward with him. Auba is an extraordinary player, not only because he scored 19 competitive goals in the first half of the season. He’s extravagant, a colourful character. It does a town like Dortmund good,” Zorc concluded.
