Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tried to arrange a shock move from Arsenal to Chelsea in the January transfer window with no success, though, reports in England say.

According to Daily Mail, Aubameyang’s camp initiated contacts with Chelsea trying to negotiate what would be a bold move, but talks never took a swing.

Although the Blues initially found the prospect of signing such a prolific striker as Aubameyang attractive, the Gabonese’s stratospheric wage demands made the deal collapse before it even began.

The 31-year-old had the ambition to become the highest-paid player in Chelsea’s history, but his salary request fell on the London side’s deaf ears.

It’s no secret that the former Borussia Dortmund man stalls on penning a new contract at the Etihad, but a cross-town transfer would’ve invited wrath from the Gunners supporters.

Aubameyang has less than a year left on his contract at Arsenal, and unless he signs a new one soon, Mikel Arteta will look to sever ties with his captain to make some profit.

In addition to a foreign interest, Manchester United and Chelsea are both exploring the possibility of signing one of the most prolific goalscorers in the Premier League.

During his two-and-half-year life in England, only Mohamed Salah of Liverpool has managed to eclipse Aubameyang’s tally of 49 Premier League goals scored.

Wonder what Arsenal fans will have to say about this?
