Augsburg snaps Lichtsteiner who left Arsenal

Swiss international Stephan Lichtsteiner was released at the end of the 2018-2019 English Premier League season by the Gunners.

Until last season, 35-year-old defender Stephan Lichtsteiner was playing in the English Premier League with Arsenal.

And today he was announced as the new Augbsburg signing in the German Bundesliga.

“We’re really happy that such an experienced player like Stephan Lichtsteiner has decided to join us,” said coach Stefan Reuter to the club’s official website.

“He has had such an influential career in Switzerland, France, Italy, and England as well as with the Swiss national side and with through his experience, he can really bring some extra quality to our team.”

Lichtsteiner was very happy to be welcomed: “FC Augsburg is a team that has really been developing in recent years.”

“This will be a real challenge for me, but one that I wanted after my time in England.”

“I feel that I can bring a lot to this young and hungry side and I’m feeling looking forward to doing so,” he commented.

“The atmosphere of the Bundesliga is something I’ve always wanted to experience.”
