Frank Lampard took over at Chelsea this summer, and the team is already playing some great football under the guidance of legendary midfielder on the bench.
Even though his Chelsea team wasn’t up to a good start, Lampard’s faith in youngsters seems to be paying off, as there’s a positive atmosphere around the club with some good results coming in, too.
A big part of Chelsea’s success is one of the more constant players to play for Chelsea in recent years – Cesar Azpilicueta.
The popular “Azpi” is a regular first-choice right-back, captaining the team with calmness and maturity.
He is also the right man to ask about managerial differences, as he’s oversaw a lot of manager changes in his time at Chelsea.
Asked about differences between the two managers, according to Metro, Azpilicueta replied:
“Every manager asks you different tasks and on the pitch now we are playing with more intensity and pressing higher up the pitch, we want to control the game.
“We attack with the full-backs and we are trying to find the solution in the box with more crossing and shooting maybe than last season.
“Last season we were trying more to get through the lines with short passes.
“I am enjoying it and hopefully we can take the momentum from the last two home wins into this game in Lille and then at Southampton before the international break, so we can get into the next month with better results.”
With Reece James recovering from injury, Azpi is now facing competition for the right-back spot:
“Reece is a player I have followed and he had an amazing spell at Wigan [on loan].
“He showed his quality, he is a very strong boy with a good attitude. I will try to help him with whatever he needs.”
