Cesar Azpilicueta has urged his teammates to step up their game in order to fight for silverware.
Chelsea managed to overcome their latest hurdle and proceed to the next round of the FA Cup after a 2-1 victory against their second division English counterparts Hull City.
But Chelsea’s victory was not exactly pleasing to the eye and rather unconvincing. The Blues squandered numerous opportunities throughout the game and also leaked defensively allowing Hull City to pull one back in the late stages of the match.
After the match, manager Frank Lampard was furious with his side’s performance. Despite the win, Lampard focused on Chelsea’s weaknesses.
And recently, Cesar Azpilicueta has come out pointing the teams’ flaws. The Blues skipper demanded his side to show improvement to keep pushing for winning titles.
“We have to improve our game if we want to improve as a team and go far. It is not the first game where we don’t manage the game well. We were punished,” Azpilicueta told BT Sport.
“ If we want to play against the best and fight for trophies we need to improve.
“We are a team and the season is long. We are fighting in three competitions. Our objective is to go as far as possible. It is our job to be in the best shape possible.”
