Football bad boy Arda Turan reveals how moves to some of football’s giants fell apart before his move to Barcelona and nightmare in Turkey.

Arda Turan has had a turbulent time since he left Barcelona and aptly been dubbed one of football’s bad boys.

Turan began his pro football career at Turkish giants Galatasaray, but really established himself as a top player when he went to Atletico Madrid.

During his time at Los Rojiblancos, he attracted the attention of some of Europe’s elite.

In an interview the player did live on his official Instagram, he talks about failed moves to two European giants, before the biggest move of his career to Barcelona.

He said:

“My agent, Ahmet Bulut, didn’t tell me I had signed for Barcelona. He said I would find out 15 days after.”

“I was thinking that I was going to Bayern because a year before my transfer to Manchester United fell apart at the last minute.”

“The document fell out of his bag and I saw Barcelona’s logo on top of the paper.”

“I couldn’t believe it. Ahmet said, ‘come here, come here, look at the documents’. I was not sad that I was going to Barcelona.”

His career at the Camp Nou started brightly, but a change of manager saw him surplus to requirements.

He added:

“Valverde didn’t give me any minutes.”

“I was the one who had given the most assists behind Messi and Suárez the year before.”

Turan was loaned out by Barca and ended up in his native Turkey where a string of problems saw him fired by Basaksehir.

Turan is now 33 and will be a free agent this summer. It remains to be seen if he is still regarded as a top player that anyone will be willing to take a chance on.
