After a promising start of the season, Gareth Bale seems to be facing issues at Real Madrid once again.
Real Madrid took a hard-earned 2-0 win away at Sevilla. This put them tie at the top of the table with Athletic Bilbao.
One of the main protagonists in Real Madrid’s resurgence was Gareth Bale.
Bale arrived in Madrid in the summer of 2013 for a fee of around €100 million. The Welshman made a big impact, playing a crucial role in a couple of Champions League runs for Los Blancos.
However, in the preseason, he was outcasted by Zinedine Zidane, when he even publicly called for the Welshman to start searching for a new club.
Goals and victories solve most problems in football. However, this doesn’t seem to be the case with Zidane and Bale.
Gareth Bale noted two goals and an assist in four appearances at the start of this season.
Ahead of mid-week Osasuna matchup, Gareth Bale was left out of the matchday squad. The reasons for this are unclear, as no injury concerns have been made public.
However, a possible explanation could be that Zidane is resting bale for a big derby against Atletico Madrid on weekend.
Zidane even had some words of praise for the Welshman:
“Bale’s really focused, same as the rest. He wants to do great, he’s in a good moment. He’s an important player and he knows he’s a great player.
“He helps when we attack and when we defend, as he did in the last game. When everyone is committed, we can do great things, ” as quoted by Goal.
It should be interesting to see how Bale reacts to these words and being left out of the squad at the same time.
Zidane will surely need Bale on Saturday, as Atletico Madrid trashed them in the preseason match.
While this is a much more important event, Real Madrid players ought to be much more careful as they saw the sheer power of Simeone’s side.
