Gareth Bale is enjoying his time at Real Madrid and has no plans to quit the club anytime soon, insists his agent Jonathan Barnett.
Gareth Bale has been, without a shred of doubt, one of the most influential players for Real Madrid in the past few years, but he has looked increasingly out of place at the club in recent times.
Bale’s commitment at Real Madrid first got called into question when he, after guiding his national team into EURO 2020, put up a flag with the message: ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.’
Over the past few weeks, he further deteriorated his reputation by pretending to be asleep and simulating the use of binoculars with his hands while on the bench.
More headlines were made by him as he was seen not taking much interest in the team celebration for the latest La Liga success.
With the 31-year old having played just twice in the since football’s return from lockdown, it is clear that he is surplus to Zinedine Zidane‘s requirements at the club.
However, as per his agent, Bale is adamant about seeing to the end of his two-year contract at Santiago Bernabeu.
“Gareth is fine. He has two years left on his contract. He likes living in Madrid and he is going nowhere,” Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport.
“He’s still as good as anyone else in the team. It’s up to [Real Madrid manager] Zinedine Zidane. It’s a great loss that he’s not in the Real Madrid team at the moment but he will not leave.
“Gareth is one of the best players in the world. The best players in the world do not go out on loan.”
