Gareth Bale will see out his contract with Real Madrid and leave in the summer of 2022 according to his agent, Jonathan Barnett.
Zinedine Zidane masterminded Real Madrid’s return to the top of La Liga but Gareth Bale was not part of the reason.
Akin to Eden Hazard, Bale recorded his worst season at the Santiago Bernabeu. While the Belgian was injured for the duration of the 2019/20 campaign, Bale could not force his way into Zidane’s plans.
The Welshman has been linked with a move away but his wages and Real Madrid’s transfer demands have stood in the way.
According to Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, the attacker will see out his contract in the Spanish capital.
“Very few clubs can afford his salary,” Barnett told AS.
“Gareth is delighted with the idea of seeing out the two years left on his contract.”
“He’s happy in Spain. And so is his family. It’s a shame that Madrid is wasting the chance to use him because he is a model professional and continues to train well.”
Keeping Bale on their books is a €60 million endeavor, one that Los Blancos want to stay away from. Zidane openly stated that Bale does not appear in his long-term plans but the winger stayed in Madrid.
Jiangsu Suning was rumored to be making him the highest-paid footballer last year but Real Madrid could not agree to a transfer fee.
