Frank Lampard wants to add Kai Havertz to his burgeoning dressing room and his former teammate has some insight.
Chelsea did not reinforce their squad in the 2019/20 campaign. Frank Lampard only had Cobham academy to make the grade.
The youngster came true on their promise and Champions League qualification was secured. They also made it to the FA Cup final but lost out to Arsenal.
Lampard now wants to reimagine Chelsea in his own way. Hakim Ziyech and Time Werner have arrived. But the Blues also want to add Kai Havertz to their ranks.
Michael Ballack spent four years alongside Lampard and has an insight into how the Chelsea legend thinks. He believes the rookie manager wants a dangerous goalscorer and Havertz fits the bill.
“I firmly believe that Frank Lampard would be 100 percent behind Kai Havertz,” Ballack told Sportbuzzer.
“He likes players who are very dangerous in front of goal and there aren’t many of those.”
“Havertz is a player that Frank Lampard would help further, not least because he himself was a midfielder with an eye for goal, who was always moving into dangerous areas, looking to finish off a chance.”
Chelsea have a tough task on their hands as Bayer Leverkusen are unwilling to budge on their demands.
Rudi Voller shared that Havertz would only be allowed to leave if their demands are met. And it looks likely that they will have their way given the interest in his services.
