Former Germany captain Michael Ballack is adamant that the English Premier League is more advanced than Germany’s Bundesliga
This comes amid concerns that the overall standard in the Bundesliga has fallen with both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig having been already knocked out of this season’s Champions League in the group stages. Bayern Munich are the only remaining German side in the competition and currently hold a 19 point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
Ballack, who himself played for both Bayern and Chelsea during his glittering career, who now admitted that there is a big difference in terms of quality between the leagues.
“If I watch the Bundesliga, I’m interested in Bayern,” Ballack told Kicker, as reported on Goal. “Behind them the level is manageable.
“[The Premier League is] the measure of all things. I just see a big difference in quality, but I saw that years ago.
“A few years ago we thought other clubs like Dortmund could at least close the gap, but it seems they are further apart.”
