Although there have been some mistakes, even with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Technology being used, for Josep Vives this is the way to the future.

There has been criticism in the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Technology in the Spanish La Liga tournament.

Most recently the VAR was used in the 2-1 Real Madrid win over Levante.

But for Barcelona’s spokesman Josep Vives, the technology is the way to the future.

“We have been promoting VAR and we believe it is an excellent tool to help referees and reduce the margin of error,” he told Spanish media outlet Marca.

“Even though VAR exists, there will continue to be mistakes and controversy which is normal because this is football.”

“We must be very calm and serene though and we believe massively in VAR so it is essential that it continues to function and be perfected,” he added.

“If we have to draw conclusions from it, it could be a dangerous dynamic and we cannot suspect everybody in the world.”

“What we should worry about is demanding more and improving things,” he said.

Real Madrid boss Santiago Solari said that the calendar was in favor of the Blaugrana and not of his Merengue side.

“The calendar comes and goes during the season and sometimes it hurts us and sometimes it doesn’t,” Vives explained.

“In the end, everyone should have more or less the same rest.”

“La Masia is essential for Barcelona and it gives meaning to our club,” he commented about the club’s youth system.

“Through self-demand, we must improve everything that we do every day. Last year our youth team won the Youth League so we are pleased with our situation.”
