Barca’s Semedo ruled out for a possible five weeks

Nelson Semedo has been ruled out for a period of around five weeks following his injury in the win against Celta Vigo.

Semedo was substituted halfway through the first half, unable to continue.

Semedo has been a key figure for the Catalonians this season, he Semedo has played 16 games this season.

Barca already has defensive injury woes following the injury relapse incurred by Jordi Alba only last week.

There is still no definitive return date for Alba, but it is believed the club will air on the side of caution.

Barca’s defensive ranks in the backs position are thin with both Javi and Semedo ruled out.

Ernesto Valverde will be hoping the international break will enough time for him to get someone back for the next game.

Regarding Semedo the club released a statement on the official club website, fcbarcelona.com.

The statement read:

“Tests carried out on the first team player Nélson Semedo have confirmed that he has a calf injury in his left leg and will be out for around 5 weeks.”
