In the middle of the whole Neymar return to Barcelona drama, L’Equipe reports that FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid began negotiating for Griezmann.
It appears that FC Barcelona will try to not only sign Neymar, but they will go after Antoine Griezmann as well.
We previously reported that the French player already had a verbal agreement with the Catalan club, he was supposed to make the transfer happen at the start of July.
Now that the month of June is about to end, L’Equipe reports that both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid started negotiations for the France international.
If everything goes well, both clubs are destined to reach an understanding of Antoine’s future.
There are some details about the negotiation in this report from the French journal, mainly about the demands of Atletico.
The Colchoneros set Griezmann’s release clause in €200 million but that goes down to €120 million on July the 1st.
The Catalan club still wants to pay less than that due to Neymar’s negotiation, which is why they are willing to include a player in the deal.
L’Equipe talks about Diego Simeone asking for Nelson Semedo in the negotiation in order to lower Griezmann’s price even further.
We will get more detailed information about this transfer over the next couple of days, but everything points to Griezmann becoming the latest FC Barcelona arrival.
