Eric Abidal has admitted that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer.

Luis Suarez’s longterm injury sent Barcelona into a state of agitation as the club compiled a list of hitmen who could lead the line in the Uruguayan’s absence.

One such name, as the rumors suggested, that Barcelona wrote down in bold was that of Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

With 14 goals under his belt, Aubameyang sits third in the Premier League goalscoring charts. He is also one of the key players who has been pushing Arsenal to fight hard in their disastrous campaign.

Hence, the Gabonese international fits the bill perfectly for the Catalans. And recently, Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal praised the 30-year old while keeping the door open for his move to Camp Nou in the summer.

“I know him. I do not have much to do beyond sports. He has a profile that has depth,” Abidal said speaking of the Arsenal striker, as per Football London.

“He is important, and in his team he is decisive. It is good to bring this profile of a player who can be in the market and can help you.

“We’ll see what will happen.”
