Barcelona have escaped punishment from the UEFA after yellow balloons were released by the crowd in their 4-1 win over AS Roma in the Champions League
For the encounter at the Nou Camp on Wednesday, pro-independence associations had asked the fans to release yellow balloons on the 17th minute of the match as a form of protest against the Spanish government for their actions against the infamous Catalan conflict last year.
Previously the UEFA had penalized Barcelona for having pro-independence flags at their Nou Camp stadium. But Marca have now reported that it is looking increasingly likely that the Catalan club will escape punishment from the football governing body.
The board at Barcelona have been under going diplomatic work with UEFA in a attempt to demonstrate their disapproval of the situation. The UEFA are also aware that the political situation in Catalonia is far bigger than a football club.
