Ernesto Valverde gave no guarantees that Antoine Griezmann will get his place in the side back from Ansu Fati in this weekend’s game.

The Frenchman was dropped in Barcelona’s last La Liga game against Real Valladolid.

It has to be said, it was not like Barca missed there 100 million Euro summer signing.

The team inspired by Argentine talisman Lionel Messi ran out 5-1 winners.

Speaking to the clubs official website, fcbarcelona.com  before his sides weekend game against Levante.

Ernesto Valverde expects a tough game against an opponent growing in confidence.

While he wasn’t giving much away in regards to his team, he did make one thing clear, and that is that nobody is promised a place in his team

He said:

“[Levante] are a team that try to press high and that have many offensive solutions.” he

“They are usually a team that attacks with many players and, if they take the ball off you, they can harm you with the likes of [Jose Luis] Morales and Hernani.”

“It is one of those matches in which anything can happen.”

On Antoine Griezmanns position in the team, he made no promises.

He added:

“He is a player who has been playing regularly.”

“The other day I made some changes.”

“I don’t like to talk about indisputable starters.”

He will play if he meets his requirements.”

Perhaps the only player who is a guaranteed starter when he is fit, is Lionel Messi.

Now that he is fit again and suspension free, it was no surprise he was selected by Lionel Scaloni for he Argentine national team.

“We know that while he is still active, there is a possibility that he will be called up by his national team.”

“When he doesn’t go, it’s because of a suspension.”

“It doesn’t damage our focus at all.”We are aware of it and it is not a setback.”

Griezmann has been decent, but not electrifying since his big-money move this summer from Atletico Madrid.

He has featured 12 times for Barca so far this season and managed four goals and three assists.

He will need to be a lot more prolific than that to be a guaranteed name on the team sheet.
