Rakitic has set his sights on leaving Barcelona this summer, with the midfielder interested in a return to his former club Sevilla.
Barcelona are set to lose Rakitic in the summer, with the player pushing for a reported move to former club Sevilla, according to reports in Spain.
The Croatian joined Barca in 2014 and after a largely successful time at the club, the 32-year-old is now aiming for an emotional return to Seville.
As per Sport h/t by The Daily Mail, Barcelona know this is their last season with Rakitic and would not push for a contract renewal in the summer.
Rakitic’s contract runs until June 2021 but Barcelona are open to selling him now for something rather than losing him for free next summer.
As per the report, the Croatian is not leaving the club because he is unhappy but more because of his emotional entanglement with former club Sevilla.
Sevilla have already made contact with Barca and are keen on a return for a player they are well familiar with.
The Catalan side also need to raise funds this summer and Rakitic’s sale could greatly play a part in that goal.
