Now that Frenkie de Jong has been announced as the new Barcelona transfer during the winter, we tell you the problems they have to sign De Ligt.

FC Barcelona just got themselves out of a problem and will plunge right back to get in another one, they are going to go through a set of problems in order to sign centre-back Matthijs de Ligt.

The Dutch defender, who has already been tipped to become the best defender in the world in the following years is arguably one of the world’s most coveted players alongside his now former teammates Frenkie de Jong.

De Telegraaf reports that the centre-back also wants to play for Barcelona, but there are several other clubs that are looking to sign him from Ajax.

The list of interested clubs that are also after this player is practically the same that was after De Jong, with Paris Saint-Germain at the front, Juventus, and Manchester City.

Absolutely everybody who has seen him play considers that De Ligt is going to become one of the best ever, he actually makes a fantastic duo for the Netherlands alongside Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

But there are two specific problems that Barcelona has to go through in order to complete the transfer of this very talented defender.

Mino Raiola is his agent

This is arguably the biggest problem that Barcelona has for signing Matthijs de Ligt, the Catalan club simply doesn’t like the idea of having to deal with Mino Raiola again.

In the club’s recent history, the Italian agent has been one of the most infamous people that the Catalan club has ever dealt with.

For Raiola all that matters is money, he’s been involved in several disagreements with the Catalan club over players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a young Mario Balotelli, and Paul Pogba’s multiple failed attempts to sign for the Spanish giants.

It’s as simple as this with Raiola: if the price is right for any of his players, Mino will always agree to a deal once he has settled his agent fee.

This is exactly what Barcelona loathes from any agent or intermediary, getting in the way of the negotiation by asking for a cut of the whole deal.

Opinion: Messi gets back to his best with perfect timing

After leading FC Barcelona to a crucial win at Sevilla, Lionel Messi can finally rest easy because he got back to his best form...

The experience they had with Neymar was more than enough for the Catalan club for not liking the idea of anybody but the player doing the negotiation, but the club’s board is also aware that they will have to make a few sacrifices sometimes depending on the player.

Everyone considers that Matthijs de Ligt is worth the trouble.

Matthijs de Ligt’s price fluctuation

This is another major issue that FC Barcelona will encounter, this is a player who has been growing his level of performance with giant leaps and there is no telling how much more his price will elevate by next summer.

The price-tag for both players was revealed by the end of 2018 by several news outlets such as Diario Sport, they reported that Ajax was asking €65 million for the player but recent reports suggest that his price has gone all the way up to €80 million.

The reason De Ligt’s number has gone up so much is directly related to the links that the player has with other clubs, Paris Saint-Germain is the option the defender has apart from Barcelona and the French giants are determined to take at least one option away from the Catalan club.

The Frenkie de Jong announcement was a major blow for PSG, which means that they will do everything they can to prevent De Ligt from going on the same route as his former teammate.

De Jong was considered the top priority for the French club, this has angered them deeply and they are willing to go to war with Barcelona over the other Ajax player.
