Bayern Munich has moved to squash the rumors of goalkeeping discontent within the club, claiming everyone knows their role.
The 23year-old German keeper is viewed as the heir apparent to Manuel Neuer at both Bayern Munich and with the national team.
There has, however, been rumors of discontent at the club. With Neuer stalling on a new contract and Nube unhappy at the idea of coming in to be an understudy.
Today though the club moved both at managerial level and board room level to clarify that there is no problem with anyone, and all parties know the situation and their role.
The Bavarian giant’s manager Hansi Flick insists Neuer is his number one but Nubel will have the chance to prove himself.
He told Kicker:
“Manuel Neuer is clearly our number one, nothing will change in the coming season. Alexander Nubel knows that.”
“Alexander Nubel will have the same trust and the same appreciation as all other goalkeepers and players in our team.”
“We want to develop him further, but it is also clear that performance is what counts at Bayern.”
CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added:
“In recent weeks there have been a lot of reports about Alexander Nubel.”
“He is one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe and an important player for the future of our team.”
“We’re confident that Manuel Neuer, with his quality and experience, will make an important contribution to Alexander Nubel’s development.”
Rumenigge feels most of the problems stem from agents and he was quick to set out the clubs stall in that respect too.
“In addition, we would like to put on record that FC Bayern does not tolerate derogatory comments from players’ agents about other Bayern players.”
