Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac is confident that James Rodriguez will remain at the club for the new season, despite reports suggesting that Real Madrid are considering recalling him from his loan deal
The Colombia international left the Spanish giants last summer to join Bayern in a two-year loan deal with the club paying €6.5m per season.
But Rodriguez has been linked with a surprise return to Real this summer following the departure of Zinedine Zidane with the 27-year-old understood to be considering the idea of returning to his parent club and making a go of things under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
In a morning press conference, Kovac commented on the rumours that have been going around the Bundesliga giants of late and gave the media his verdict on Rodriguez’s future.
“We have him on a current loan deal which is still valid. It will end, either in this direction if we say, ok, we will not take up the option, or we do,” he said, as quoted by ESPN’s Mark Lovell.
