Bayern Munich end pre-season with a bang by winning 23-0

Bayern Munich ruthlessly thrashed amateur side FC Rottach-Egern 23-0 in their final pre-season friendly on Thursday.

Five days after their Supercup defeat to Borussia Dortmund, Bayern gave themselves a welcome confidence-booster ahead of the new season in an annual warm-up game against local team Rottach-Egern.

Incredibly, the Bundesliga champions scored 23 unanswered goals in front of the 2,500 supporters in Bavaria. Therefore, they averaged about one goal in just under every four minutes.

Corentin Tolisso, who was sidelined for most of last season due to a cruciate knee ligament injurywas the star of the show. The French midfielder, in fact, scored four times to lead the way in the Bayern scoring charts.

Although Tolisso wasn’t the only one to shine on Thursday as the prolific Robert Lewandowski bagged yet another hat-trick for Bayern.

Joining the Pole in netting a treble was Thomas Muller, Kwasi Okyere Wriedt and Leon Goretzka.

Renato Sanches’ brace along with strikes from Serge Gnabry, Sarpreet Singh, Alexander Nollenberger and Leon Dajaku helped Bayern cruise to a dominant victory.

Bayern Munich finally rule out Leroy Sane move

Chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that Bayern Munich won't be plotting anymore moves for Leroy Sane this year.

An own-goal later finished off a 23-0 hammering for Rottach-Egern, who probably be glad to see the back of their Bavarians rivals.

Meanwhile, Lucas Hernandez recovered from his knee surgery to debut for Niko Kovac’s side after completing a club-record €80m transfer from Atletico Madrid.

Although it turns out the result wasn’t a one-off, with ESPN revealing that Bayern smashed Rottach-Egern 20-2 during last summer’s meeting. So, it seems the poor amateur side may be in for another humiliating afternoon next year.

For Bayern, though, the focus now turns back to the start of their 2019/20 campaign. First up will be a trip to FC Energie Cottbus next Monday to begin the defence of their DFB-Cup Pokal title.

Hertha Berlin will then await them four days later back at the Allianz Arena for their Bundesliga opener.
