The Bavarians are eager to bring Leroy Sane to the Allianz Arena this summer as the club looks to move on from the Ribery-Robben era.
Leroy Sane is seen as an important part of Bayern Munich’s future. Following the departures of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben, the young winger has been touted to fill in one of those two massive shoes.
The German international has struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. However, the Citizens aren’t too keen on allowing the winger to leave so soon.
Bayern Munich on the other hand, are desperate for specialist wingers in the transfer market this summer. The reigning German Bundesliga champions have shortlisted several candidates for the role but believe that Leroy Sane would be the perfect fit for the aforementioned role.
In January, they made a bid for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi. And though the club is eager to bring the youngster to Bavaria, it appears that Hudson-Odoi will sign a new deal with Chelsea. The return of Frank Lampard means that he will get more playing time so the youngster is likely to stay put.
Leroy Sane on the other hand, isn’t guaranteed regular game time and is reportedly open to a move.
According to the Standard, City are sure that Sane will be signing a new contract but according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Bayern Munich are not going to give up.
“The status is that [Sane] comes back from vacation this week and did not want to talk during the vacation time,” he told reporters.
“Now you will have to wait in peace and quiet to see if something moves in this direction.
“It is well known that we are still looking for a wide player.
“We lost Ribery and Robben, two players who have shaped the face of Bayern.”
