Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac insists that they will not be making an approach for Ante Rebic before the end of the summer transfer window
The Eintracht Frankfurt forward had a strong World Cup campaign for Croatia as the national side reached the final for the first time in their history before losing 4-2 to France in Moscow.
But the defeat did not appear to dampened Rebic’s prospects with the 24-year-old revealing that there had been “concrete offers” for his services.
However, Kovac is not interested in bringing his compatriot and former Frankfurt star over to Munich as it “makes no sense”.
He told Sport Bild: ‘There is nothing between FC Bayern and Ante Rebic. He is a strong personality and a great player but [a transfer] makes no sense. It doesn’t make sense today, and it won’t tomorrow.’
Rebic managed six goals and two assists in 26 Bundesliga games last season.
Kovac will lead his new Bayern side against former club Eintracht in the DFL Super Cup on Sunday.
