The former Red Devils No.7 hopes CR7 sticks around for at least another season.

Former Manchester United David Beckham hopes Cristiano Ronaldo will stay ‘for another year or two’ at Old Trafford.

A 4-0 hammering at Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend means the club cannot finish higher than sixth in the Premier League to cap off a disappointing return for Ronaldo this season.

The 37-year-old has delivered on his side, with 24 goals in all competitions to his name. But as incoming manager Erik ten Hag prepares for a squad revamp in the summer, plus the prospect of no Champions League for next season, doubts have persisted over CR7’s future.

“Obviously Cristiano is one of the best players over the last 15 years, with Leo [Messi]. To see him stay on, hopefully at United, is important for the fans,” Beckham told Sky Sports at Sunday’s Formula One Miami Grand Prix.

“It’s important to him – we all know how much Man United means to him. He’s still doing what he does best, scoring goals. That’s what Cristiano does.

“To be doing what he’s doing at his age is really incredible, so hopefully it continues for another year or two.”

Ronaldo has another year left on his Red Devils contract, with an option for a third season included.

The forward is currently preparing for United’s final game of the season away to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on May 22.
