The director of football says his team knows how to take on Tottenham Hotspur, as the Spurs will be the Citizens’ rivals in the Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur has been drawn as Manchester City’s rival in the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals.
The two English Premier League clubs will face each other in the first leg on April 9th, while the second leg will be played on April 17th.
And for director of football Txiki Begiristain, City is confident but knows the rivals are a difficult team to face.
“We are confident. We are doing well, we are having a good season and we are in a good place now in the sense of the football that we are playing,” he said to the club’s official website.
“So, we are confident, but we know Tottenham will create problems.”
“I am also very happy that we will get to play in the new stadium (Tottenham’s new ground),” he added.
“We played last season (in the quarter-finals) against Liverpool and did not go through. I hope this time we have better luck!”
“We are here (in the tournament). Everybody deserves to be a candidate in this competition,” Txiki commented.
“Ajax, they eliminate Real Madrid…Porto (the same) with Roma – everyone is a candidate.”
“So, we have to be very focused. There is no time for mistakes as in the Champions League one mistake and you are out,” he continued.
“So, we will be focused but the fact that we are playing well and in a good rhythm will help.”
City is currently in the first position of the EPL with 74 points, thanks to 24 wins, two draws and four losses.
