Reports claim Benfica are considering a big move to appoint former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as manager this summer.
Benfica are reportedly in the hunt for a new manager and Mauricio Pochettino has been lined up as the candidate to fill in that role.
The 49-year-old was dismissed off his role as Tottenham manager last November but has continued to pull speculation from all over the place.
Ahead of Newcastle’s proposed take-over, Pochettino has been lined up as one of the top candidates to lead the Magpies alongside Rafael Benitez. He has also been linked to Manchester United as a potential replacement for Solskjaer but that is looking rather unlikely as it stands.
It’s not far-fetched considering the former Spurs man has numerously admitted he’s interested in another stint in the Premier League.
The latest rumor surrounding Pochettino now is that he’s subject of interest from Portuguese side Benfica.
Record claim that Benfica are ready to sack current boss Bruno Lage despite a decent domestic season that sees them just three points behind table toppers Porto.
To that effect, the Aguias outfit will seek a major financial investment and are hopeful of luring Pochettino with substantial wages to match.
Many have tipped the Argentine manager to move to a bigger club than Spurs and it remains to be seen if the Portuguese side would appeal to the 49-year-old.
