The Squirrels are set to play against the Teranga Lions tonight for a chance to reach the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Semifinal.

Benin has been one of the biggest surprises in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team ended up qualifying to the knockout stage by drawing its three matches in Group F, finishing in third place.

And in the Round of 16, the Squirrels surprised the world by tying 1-1 with Morocco, advancing to the Quarterfinals after winning 4-1 on penalty kicks.

Now they are set to play against Senegal tonight, and for coach Michel Dussuyer, all the pressure is on the Teranga Lions.

“Facing Senegal, it’s a big challenge against the tournament’s favorite,” he told Goal.

“We have everything to gain. The pressure is on Senegal, who are favored for the title.”

“We were not mentioned as favorites. We are not going to become one overnight. We just want to play a good game,” he added.

“The more we advance, the more we say we are not there by chance. I do not say we are feared but we are respected.”

“Our confidence has increased but we must not be complacent. After all, it’s a knockout match, every detail counts,” he commented.

“Our presence in this stage is not out of luck, we worked hard and I believe in my players.”
