Rafael Benitez is fully aware of the threat that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah will pose for his Newcastle team for today’s match

The Spanish coach, who famously led Liverpool to the Champions League title in his six-year stay, will return to Anfield with his Newcastle team.

However, compared to the side he once coached himself, Benitez admitted that the current Liverpool squad is in a class of it’s own.

Leading the pack is Salah, who scored 44 goals across all competitions and won many individual awards last season.

And the Egyptian forward seems to have carried that form over to Liverpool’s current campaign after finding the net 11 times in 18 Premier League outings.

The 22-year-old has been manager Marco Silva's first choice ahead of Turkey international Cenk Tosun in the English Premier League team.

“Salah is showing everyone he is among the best,” said Benitez, according to Goal.

“He has the pace, the vision, the ability, he is clinical in front of goal.

“But it is not just him, they have a very good team and a very good squad, you can change players and still have a very good 11.

“The team is helping Salah to perform every week. Football is about consistency and quality and, at the moment, he has everything.”

The Liverpool and Newcastle match will begin at 16:00 (CET).
