The 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Newcastle following his on-loan move from Leicester City in January.
Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has issued a warning towards one of his players, Slimani, suggesting that he should stick to the club’s fitness plans. The Magpies are seemingly not happy with the forward’s fitness levels since his arrival from King Power Stadium in the winter transfer window, which has prevented the striker from making his first appearance for the club.
The Algeria international has been struggling to find his form since his last thigh injury and even though he is eager to return back to action, Rafa has warned him to take care of his fitness and stick to the club’s plan if he wants to make his debut for the Magpies anytime soon.
“He [Slimani] has a plan, he has to follow that plan,” Benitez told NUFC TV, according to Goal.
“He is working with the fitness coach but he has to follow the plan.”
