Karim Benzema is braced for a critical month over at Real Madrid as they prepare for some potential season-defining fixtures.
Benzema looks to have continued where he left off last season by scoring six goals in his opening seven La Liga appearances. It’s played a big part in Real Madrid taking an early two-point lead over Barcelona in the title battle.
Zinedine Zidane’s men will look to maintain their lead at the top of the standings starting with a trip to RCD Mallorca next Saturday.
From that point on, however, things will get tricky for Real with a potentially decisive trip to Turkish giants Galatasaray awaiting them in the Champions League just three days later. With just a single point from two Group A games, victory is a must to retain hopes of a knockout spot.
Los Blancos will then visit Barcelona at Camp Nou on October 26 for the first Clasico of the season in La Liga.
“We come into the next few games knowing that in football there are no easy matches,” said Benzema on Marca.
“It’s a very important month for us because the Champions League is coming and we’re going to have three very difficult games, but we’re ready to play them.”
The Frenchman, meanwhile, won the club’s Player of the Month award on Friday afternoon.
Benzema added: “Receiving an award from the supporters is always different because it’s your fans and you play for them, so I feel very happy.
“I’m doing very well right now, like the whole team.
“Gradually we are going to reach a very high level where we are able to win all of our matches.”
