Karim Benzema has called on his teammates to carry their superb La Liga form into the Champions League as a crunch clash against Manchester City looms.
Karim Benzema wants Real Madrid to go into the Champions League the way they ended their La Liga campaign.
Los Blancos claimed their 34th La Liga title this term and it was a well-deserved trophy given their resilience all through their campaign
At one point, Barcelona were favorites to lift the title but an upturn in form changed Real Madrid’s woes to delight.
An in-form Benzema led the charge as Madrid recorded 10 straight victories after the restart of football in June.
However, a mountain to climb awaits Los Blancos as they take on Manchester City at the Etihad in their round of 16 second-leg encounter.
The Premier League side holds a 2-1 advantage and will go into that game well-motivated considering how their domestic campaign went.
Benzema is well aware of what needs to be done and has called on his side to carry their winning momentum into that fixture.
“LaLiga was really special and also difficult, but we did a great job,” Benzema said as quoted by Standard Sport.
And looking ahead to the club’s European date next week, he added: “The team is good. Now we have time to work.”
“We want to continue as we were in LaLiga and win against City, which is very important.”
There are positive thoughts amongst the Madrid camp that they can turn the tie around.
