Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva believes focus is key to retaining their Premier League crown this season

Pep Guardiola’s side cruised to a record-breaking title last season with runners-up Manchester United finishing 19 points below them.

City have started strongly again this term by winning 13 of their opening 15 matches and are still unbeaten at this stage.

However, they are not the only side to avoid defeat with Liverpool chasing them hard up front and just two points shy of catching them.

“It will be a very tough year, we knew that,” said Silva, according to Fox Sports.

Hasselbaink: Chelsea need Hazard to stay more than ever now

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink believes it's critical now the club convince Eden Hazard to commit his long-term future.

“All our rivals are doing better this season than last season. So we have to focus on ourselves and then we’ll see how our opponents do.

“Last season we had two more points — this season we already conceded two draws and last season we only had one at this point of the season. I don’t know if we’re doing better but I think we’re doing well.

“We just want to keep doing the same thing: forget about last season, know what we did last season was amazing breaking all the records.

“But this is another season and we have to try to win the Premier League again, against different opponents, stronger opponents in my opinion and it will be a tough season for us.”

City will next face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Saturday in the Premier League.
