Bernardo Silva is more motivated to win the Champions League with Manchester City as the remainder of the competition will be played in his hometown Lisbon.

Bernardo Silva has even more incentive to play his best for Manchester City in the Champions League when the competition resumes.

The Portuguese has had a pretty quiet campaign compared to last season where he was firing on all cylinders and was even nominated for the PFA Player Of The Year.

Should Manchester City see out Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League game, there is hope Silva and company can set their sights on lifting the trophy in August.

The Champions League finally was initially scheduled to host in Instabul but was recently moved to Lisbon which happens to be where the 25-year-old was one.

That alone is extra motivation for Silva who fancies the idea of winning the competition in his hometown.

“Personally, it’s an extra motivation,” the midfielder said via Daily Mail.

“It is a special competition, and it’s going to be a unique event played in my home city. For me to fight for the title in the place I was born and grew up would mean a lot.”

“It would be so, so special, even more because I missed the Euros four years ago when Portugal won the trophy and I was hoping to play in this summer’s Euro 2020 before the pandemic.”

For Silva to keep any of those hopes alive, himself and his City teammates must finish the job against Zidane’s Real Madrid.
