After a thrilling weekend full of action, it’s time to check out the five best performers across all of Europe’s top five leagues.

It was quite the hectic weekend in Europe, with clubs and players pulling out all the stops to emerge triumphant in their respective fixtures. It made life difficult for us to pick a winner in our best players list.

The most eye-catching European fixture of all was the 179th Manchester derby on Saturday, where Manchester City’s Premier League title hopes suffered a major blow by losing 2-1 to Manchester United at home.

Elsewhere, Barcelona and Real Madrid remain neck-and-neck at the top of La Liga following wins over RCD Mallorca and Espanyol respectively. 

Juventus, meanwhile, blew a big chance to retake top spot in the Serie A by losing 3-1 to Lazio. It was the club’s first defeat of the season under new coach Maurizio Sarri.

While Bayern Munich fared no better by falling to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bundesliga leaders Borussia Monchengladbach.
