Germany’s 2014 World Cup-winning captain takes up our right-back spot in this line-up.

Lahm’s versatility was a useful trait, as he could also play as a defensive midfielder and as a left-back. Ultimately, though, we decided he would be better on the right flank of our defence.

The Bayern Munich icon was, without doubt, one of the best defenders of his generation. He even managed 113 caps for Germany before bowing out in style with a World Cup winner’s medal.
