Arguably, one of the game’s greatest sweepers in history was another Bayern Munich icon in Franz Beckenbauer.

The 74-year-old starred for West Germany between 1965 to 1977, where he made 103 appearances on route to a World Cup and European winner’s medal.

Beckenbauer, who played primarily as a centre-back, is a two-time Ballon d’Or winner. He also won the World Cup and European championship on route to making 103 Germany appearances.
