These days, Lothar Matthaus is probably known best for his rather absurd views in German football.

But make no mistake about it, the Bayern Munich legend was a magnificent player and had the whole package in being a brilliant passer, tackler, and shooter. He even participated in five World Cups.

Overall, Matthaus made 150 appearances for Germany on route to a World Cup and European championship. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 1990.
