Tammy Abraham has handed Chelsea a massive blow as Lampard confirms he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
Tammy Abraham could be spending some time on the sidelines after aggravating the injury that has plagued him since January.
The striker suffered the injury in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal and has been in and out of the Chelsea lineup since then.
Abraham has reportedly played through the pain barrier and did more damage to himself in his side’s defeat to Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old aggravated the injury and was unable to finish a warm-down after the match.
The England international has now been ruled out for Chelsea’s game against Bournemouth with Lampard unsure when he would return.
“We are trying to find a solution, it’s obviously frustrating that he comes in and out somewhat. But he’s injured,” said Lampard via Evening Standard.
“I will speak to the doctors about it but we are not clear on that one. Yes, he is not active for the next couple of days so I don’t know. I don’t know [how long he will be out].”
Abraham has scored 13 goals for Chelsea this season and his absence means Lampard will have to rely on Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi for goals.
