Jerome Boateng is happy to stay at Bayern Munich after feeling appreciated and important under the management of Hansi Flick.
Jerome Boateng is feeling appreciated in Munich and is now happy to remain at the club.
For months, the 31-year-old has been subject of transfer speculation with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea interested in his services.
Under former manager Niko Kovac, Boateng was in and out of the Bayern lineup but has managed to be a regular under Hansi Flick.
So far in 2020, the German has only missed one game for Bayern and that was due to a suspension from accumulated yellow cards.
This new found appreciation has given Boateng second thoughts, with the defender now happy to stay in Munich.
He did admit though that he was already considering his future at a point.
“Before Hansi Flick, I was already thinking about my future,” Boateng admitted to Welt am Sonntag. “At the moment I feel good and can imagine that I will stay. My focus is totally on Bayern and the current season.
“I need the trust of the coach and his coaching team. I have it again. Even before the time with Hansi Flick, I trained well and hard, but I was not allowed to play and never had the chance to get into my rhythm. It is difficult for every player.
“Hansi Flick told me right from the start that he was planning with me and appreciated my qualities. Now I’m really enjoying football again.”
Boateng started once again in Bayern’s recent 5-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.
