Darren Bent shared the locker room with Kevin Prince-Boateng at White Hart Lane, where the Ghanain did not enjoy the coach’s blessings.
Boateng turned 33 in March and is already on the books of his 13th major club. He has failed to stay at one club for a long time but there is no question about his quality.
The Berlin native had a woeful time at Tottenham, where he made 14 Premier League appearances. His two-year stay saw him loaned to Borussia Dortmund before being sold to Portsmouth.
Bent remembers him as a jovial character and shared a training incident when he scored from range.
“I remember a session at Spurs with Kevin-Prince Boateng,” Bent said on TalkSPORT.
“Now he’s kind of an out-there character and when he was at Spurs, he didn’t really play.”
“I remember him scoring this absolute worldie goal from about 35 yards, a volley, he screamed out at the top of his voice, ‘how does this guy not play?’.”
“He was talking about himself! We all laughed. The gaffer might have been Juande Ramos at the time.”
Boateng spent the first half of the season with Fiorentina and was loaned for the remainder to Besiktas. Most of his appearances came from the bench but he did manage four goals and an assist from his outings.
