Director Jorge Anro claims that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to join Boca Juniors, and teased that they’re ready to make the Swede’s wish come true.
Ibrahimovic has thrived over in the United States for LA Galaxy ever since his arrival in March 2018 from Manchester United. It had prompted talk of an Old Trafford return instead of a surprise switch to Boca.
Although the 37-year-old’s agent, Mino Raiola, previously rubbished rumours linking his client with a move to Argentina.
But Anro has contradicted Raiola’s announcement by claiming Ibrahimovic definitely wants to suit up for Boca. Furthermore, he teased that the club are in a position to pull off a shock transfer for the big Swede.
“It is true that Ibrahimovic wants to play for Boca and it is true that we are in a position to bring him in,” Anro told Mundo Boca Radio.
“The club is in a very good moment institutionally. It is so good financially that it can afford those luxuries.
“We would be able to pay Zlatan’s contract.”
Ibrahimovic has scored an impressive 50 goals in just 54 appearances for Galaxy in the last 18 months in America.
Despite his age, the former Juventus and Barcelona striker remains at the top of his game with 28 goals in 27 MLS games this season.
With his contract up at the end of the current campaign, however, Ibrahimovic can leave Galaxy for any club he wishes as a free agent.
Boca, of course, have already pulled off a surprise coup this year in former AS Roma captain Daniele De Rossi for free.
