The Girondins de Bordeaux are keen on bringing Laurent Koscielny back to France as the veteran looks to wind down his career.
Laurent Koscielny should now be looking towards a new adventure that lies away from England. The France international had a poor 2018/19 campaign for Arsenal. After spending most of the time on the treatment table, the defender made only a handful of appearance where he was not at his best.
Bordeuax are set to lose Jules Kounde to FC Seville who have just seen Pablo Sarabia join Paris Saint-Germain. According to the Spanish club’s sporting director Monchi, the club has already started negotiations.
“There is an open negotiation with Bordeaux for Jules Kounde, it is not done yet. When the conditions are right, we will announce the deal. It is a difficult operation, very complicated. But it’s not over yet,” Monchi said according to Foot Mercato.
It will take the club’s new American owner Joe DaGrosa a lot to help the club replenish its armoire before the Ligue 1 campaign begins.
And coach Paulo Sousa has identified Laurent Koscielny as his priority signing according to L’Equipe. While he is in contact with Olympique Lyonnais, a move to Rhone is not suited to the Arsenal man. Les Gones are already on the verge of signing Joachim Andersen from Sampdoria so Koscielny is unlikely to get a lot of playing time.
Instead, the former Lorient man might be interested in a move to the Aquitaine club where he will have a chance to play more often and even guide the club’s younger players. While Arsenal are looking to sell him for at least 10 million Euros, Laurent Koscielny has requested them to free him from his current contract.
However, the Gunners are strapped for cash and may not entertain such a possibility. This means that Bordeaux will have to cough up something to sign him.
