The Schalke footballer not only played his first full match against Bayer Leverkusen, but he also picked up the first assist of his career.
19-year-old Nassim Boujellab came out of the Schalke youth system in 2018, and after playing six months with the B team, he made the jump to the senior squad.
And last weekend, he played his first full match with the Navy Blues and also helped Guido Burgstaller score with an assist.
“I saw Burgi make the run and played the pass. He took it and put it in beautifully,” said Boujellab to the club’s official website.
“It’s a good feeling to have gotten my first assist. That’s the kind of moment you work your entire life to achieve.”
“I hope that we’re able to deliver a good game against Stuttgart, we owe that to our fans,” said Boujellab.
“We will give it our all in order to get those three points.”
“He was quick on the counter and won many tackles. Nassim is a good kid and massively talented,” goalscorer Guido Burgstaller praises his teammate.
“If he continues this way, then he will become a really good player.”
“Nassim has been strong in training over the past few weeks. He shows up ready to work and is open to advise from the veteran players,” Burgstaller added.
“He believes in himself and is doing really well.”
