Dutch club PSV Eindhoven has finally announced the signing of Mexican midfielder Erick Gutierrez, who finally makes his European dream come true.

It finally happened, after so much speculation about this player’s future in Europe, Mexican midfielder Erick Gutierrez has finally agreed on terms with Dutch club PSV Eindhoven for the next five seasons. As we are still waiting on more details about this historic deal for Mexican football, we can confirm that the Club Pachuca home product has finally accepted terms with the Dutch club and will embark on his new adventure this week. The news comes in a very important day for PSV, because they just qualified to the Champions League group stage after eliminating Bate Borisov with a 6-2 aggregate and two goals from his compatriot Hirving Lozano. The current Eredivisie Champions uploaded a video after the match in which ‘Chucky’ talks to ‘Guti’ and breaks the news for him, the two players have a long history together and made a fantastic duo during their time together with Tuzos as they won the Liga MX before Lozano came to play in European football.

“PSV and Club Pachuca have reached an agreement for the transfer of Erick Gutierrez. The Mexican midfielder has agreed on terms with PSV as the interim sporting director John de Jong has confirmed this Wednesday night. If he passes the medical exams, the Mexican international will sign a new contract for the next five years at PSV. Erick Gabriel Gutierrez Galaviz was born on June 15, 1995 in Ahome, Mexico. When he was only 12 years old, he was included in Club Pachuca’s youth academy, which is the same club from which our very own Hirving Lozano came from. As homegrown products from the same club, both players have developed a very close friendship. They have already played a total of eight seasons together. Plus, Gutierrez and Lozano always shared a room together when their squad traveled to away matches and even in tournaments with the national team youth squads,” said in the club’s official website written in Spanish still.

Lozano’s influence to make the transfer happen.

There is no doubt that Hirving Lozano’s incredible first year in Europe has been a key factor in PSV’s decision to bring Erick Gutierrez to play for the club, the player has already stated that he’s been talking to the Dutch club’s management about bringing his friend on board and today the two getting back together on the pitch has finally become a reality. This fantastic news also comes on the day in which the Mexico National Team’s new list has been published by interim manager Ricardo Ferretti, who included both players for the two friendly matches that El Tri will play in the United States against Uruguay and the USMNT. This transfer will be a huge boost of confidence for Gutierrez, who is already widely considered as the ideal replacement for Andres Guardado when the Real Betis midfielder decides to hang up his boots from international football. ‘Guti’ has a very similar set of skills compared to Guardado, but he does have the greater physicality and a very familiar sense of positioning inside the field.

When playing alongside Hirving Lozano, Gutierrez delivered some of his most memorable performances under Uruguay manager Diego Alonso who coached Club Pachuca when both players made their debut there and none of them have stopped growing as professionals ever since. Although Erick has a very different position compared to ‘Chucky’, it’s safe to assume that he has the potential to become just as important for PSV than Lozano has. Hirving is already one of the Dutch champions’ key players and he just secured the squad a spot on next Friday’s Champions League draw for the Group Stage that will begin in mid-September. Erick Gutierrez’s arrival to PSV will mean that Hirving Lozano has the potential to score even more goals than he did during his first season in Europe because of the chemistry both players have since they were very young at the Pachuca academy. We still don’t know more details about the final deal, but we will let you know all about it as more information comes forward.
