Breaking: Matthijs de Ligt arrives in Turin

The 19-year-old Juventus central defender arrived to start his pre-season with the Italian Lega Serie A champions.

Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt is a product of the Ajax youth system since he joined the Dutch Eredivisie club in 2008.

In 2016 he went onto play with Jong Ajax, but his impact was so big, he was moved into the senior Ajax squad immediately.

His participation in the 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League earned him a lot of praise, and now he has been acquired by Italian Lega Serie A side Juventus.

The 19-year-old central defender has moved to the Bianconeri squad after they paid Ajax 75 million Euro for the move.

The youngster rejected Barcelona and some of Europe’s biggest clubs to move to Italy.

Today he arrived in a private jet to Turin-Caselle Airport, as he is preparing to undergo a medical and finalize his switch to Juventus.

“Hello ‘Bianconeri’, I’m Matthijs and I am very happy to be here,” he told the team’s Twitter account according to Marca.
