Inter have 72 million pound bid accepted for Romelu Lukaku.

The Daily Star understands that the deal will take place by the weekend.

It is understood, after intense discussions between the club a figure of 72 million pounds has been agreed.

Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello flew to the UK to meet Ed Woodward at United’s London office to try and help thrash out a deal.

Lukaku was apparently fined two weeks wages, an estimated 490,000 thousand pounds for going AWOL.

The Belgian international saw fit to not return to Manchester and stay at boyhood club Anderlecht and train.

He was granted permission to do so until Monday by United. He failed to show up Tuesday as agreed.

The wantaway striker felt his position in Manchester was untenable. He believed he had no choice but to force the issue.

This now leaves United 24 hours, to find and sign a replacement. Before the summer transfer window closes.

This was not the situation Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted to find himself in.

However, sources close to the club seem to think while the United manager may try to get Ed Woodward to make a last-minute deal if the right player is available.

He is happy with his squad and is confident in the ability of his academy prospects.

Utilising the likes of 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as and when is needed.

Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong, and Angel Gomes were all given senior team numbers in the recent squad announcement.

Further evidence that the Norwegian may be about to try and win something with kids. Just like his mentor Sir Alex Ferguson.
