Diego Maradona has left his post as manager of Gimnasia De La Plata.

Diego Maradona is no longer the manager of Gimnasia De La Plata.

Apparently the Argentine legend took the course of action to quit his post following announcements that club president Gabriel Pellegrino was not standing for reelection.

The player had threated this course of action should Pellegrino go the route he did.

The outgoing president officially informed the public of both his and the superstar’s position.

He said:

“Maradona is no longer Gimnasia’s coach.”

“[Reserve-team coach Mariano] Messera will manage the team against Arsenal [Sarandi].”

Maradona’s tenure was a mere five matches, since his appointment in September.

Despite the team’s form improving since his arrival, they are still third from bottom in the Argentine  Superliga.

There has been no official announcement from Maradona himself yet.
